Child Of An Addict-

The essence of me, light and joy was stolen by their diseases.

Their disease became my disease as I tried to survive, learn, and grow.

Learning to live a life based on addiction, addiction, telling me who I was, how to be, what I should do to avoid conflict, to avoid pain.

Addiction teaching me about love. I became the keeper of the secrets.

I wanted their attention, not because I was so demanding, but because I was their child, I loved

them and wanted their love.

Sins of the fathers and mothers, visited onto sons and daughters. Father’s and Mother’s unconditional love for their addiction, the children ignored, each child swept away in the torrents of addiction, trouble waters, trouble lives.

God/Christ stands in the gap, a bridge over trouble waters, a bridge over troubled lives.

He gives safe passage, to where unconditional love and healing can be found.

We no longer need to be swept away by our pasts, nor the behaviors we have learned.

No longer do we need to fear the troubled waters for ourselves, nor for our unborn children, and grandchildren.

For Our Father sent his Son, to calm the storms. He will calm the seas, and we will no longer be tossed about in the seas of pain, and the rivers of addiction.

The highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity. Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience, and truth over popularity... These are the choices that measure your life. Travel the path of integrity without looking back, for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.

I'm Your Disease

I hate meetings, I hate Higher Power, I hate anyone who has a program.
To all of you that come in contact with me, I wish you death and suffering.

Allow me to introduce myself.

I am the disease of addiction.
I am cunning, baffling and powerful. That's me! I have killed, and destroyed millions and I am pleased.

I love to catch you with the element of surprise.
I love pretending I am your friend and lover.
I have given you comfort, Have I not?

Wasn't I there when you were lonely?

Wasn't I always there?

I promise you escape from all your problems.

I love to make you hurt,
I love to make you cry.

Better yet,
I love when I make you so numb,
you can neither Hurt nor Cry,
You can't feel anything at all.

This is true glory!

Self Imprisonment

I give you instant gratification and all I ask of
you is long term suffering.

I have always been there for you,

When things were going right in your life, You invited me.
You said you didn't deserve these good things and I was the only one who would agree with you. Together we were able to destroy all the good things in your life.

People don't take me seriously,

They take strokes seriously, heart attacks seriously,
even diabetes they take seriously.

Fools that they are, they don't know that without my help
these things would not be made possible.

I am such a hated Disease, and yet I do not come uninvited.

You choose to have me. So many have chosen me over
Reality, Peace, and Serenity.

More than you hate me, I hate all of you that have a 12 Step program.

Your program, your meetings, your higher power all
weaken me and don't allow me to function in the manner I am accustomed to.

Now I must lie here quietly, you don't see me,
But I am growing bigger than ever.

When you only exist, I may live.

When you live, I only exist.

But I am here....

Waiting... Always Waiting
Until you forget my power.

Until you believe once again my lies

Until you forget your Higher Power, and I once again become your God.
